Strabo on Druid Priestly Types
(August 13, 2024) Strabo, book 4, Chapter 4, Section 4
Amongst [the Gauls] there are generally three divisions of' men especially reverenced, the Bards, the Vates, and the Druids. The Bards composed and chanted hymns; the Vates occupied themselves with the sacrifices and the study of nature; while the Druids joined to the study of nature that of moral philosophy. The belief in the justice [of the Druids] is so great that the decision both of public and private disputes is referred to them; and they have before now, by their decision, prevented armies from engaging when drawn up in battle-array against each other. All cases of murder are particularly referred to them.
When there is plenty of these they imagine there will likewise be a plentiful harvest. Both these and the others assert that the soul is indestructible, and likewise the world, but that sometimes fire and sometimes water have prevailed in making great changes.
Likely Origin of Words "Druid" and "Bard" as Akkadian Phrases
Bards [Akkadian phrase B.ReD ]: This phrase means "Nourisher.Drivers" or "Nourishers of the Driving." The word "driver" is used to represent the emotional powers (Awen) which moves things and motivates people. The word "Bard" comes to English via Celtic bardos, Greek bardos and Latin bardus. These are likely the "Shepherds" in the Codex Runicus.
Vates [Akkadian words UTû, WaTu] This is the Akkadian word for "Weaver" which is a priest type mentioned in a variety of runic texts. These seek to affect the flow of life powers (fertility-fluids) within the life network or fabric by using emotion magic. Weaving is also a function of the connective life crescent moon goddess Ayu who is called Ceridwin in Gaelic texts. This is the Akkadian phrse KR.ID.UN or Reducer.Life-Channel.Resistance meaning the "Reducer of life-channel resistance." She is the one who edits the connections of the life network enhancing the flow of the divine fertility fluids though it.
Druids [Akkadian phrase DaR.ID]: This phrase means "Life-Form.Channeler." -These "forms" are the invisible “platonic” forms or “things-given” which have been both manifested (opened) and revealed (filled with matter) on earth upon triggering by higher level life powers (divine fertility fluids). Consequently, the Druid priestly class would seek to bring and maintain life. These would be the "Priest-Parents" of the Codex Runicus.
In summery, Bards nourish Awen (the emotional powers), Vates weave Awen, and Druids manifest and reveal the results to support life. These correspond to the 3 layers of the Ancient Pagan Paradigm consisting of source powers, connective powers, and manifestation powers.
