Translation

(December 2, 2024) This important texts shows the transition from Latin letter style to Old/Middle Irish. Specifically it is located at: Knoc y Doonee, Kirk Andreas, Isle of Man and given the number of CIIC 500.

The text is translated from Runic (Druid) Akkadian as:

  1. The Reed-boat's fertility-fluids being starved by those astrology-magic powers
  2. Opening deficient emanations can block involvement with Su's astrology-magic
  3. Hu cannot make ineffective the emotion-owl's omens.

David Sifter informs us that these sorts of runestones are found  in Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Devon and in other parts England, and across all of Scotland up to Shetland. This bilingual inscription is one of 8 ogham stones from the Isle of Man.

Previous translation Attempts

  1. AMMECATI
  2. FILIVS ROCATI
  3. HIC IACIT

‘here lies Ammecatus son of Rocatus’

This stone also has some ogham but they are to eroded to make a good translation.
